The MSAPMOHS217A Gas test atmospheres unit of competency is about testing the working atmosphere to determine if it is safe for the proposed work. This Gas Testing training course is designed for workers who work in close proximity or directly within hazardous atmospheres in the workplace.
Atmospheric testing is required for two distinct purposes: Evaluation of the hazards of the permit space and verification that acceptable entry conditions for entry into that space exist. Testing involves the use of electronic test apparatus.

There are currently no prerequisites for this unit.
Re-accreditation
The qualification does not have an expiry date however Refresher training may be required as per industry standards or employer requirements.
Assessment
This unit of competence will be assessed. The assessment will be based on the principles of CBT (competency-based training). A successful outcome for this certificate will be determined by a range of different methods including written submission of work, observation of simulated and practical activities, structured questioning or discussions.
